Takusu sat in the rain, looking around down on the ground. All of those people, living their lives to the full. He sighed, and slid back to position pulling his knife gently from his shoe. He took a part of cloth from his pocket, and polished the knife slowly. He removed the bangs of his hair from his forehead, and leaned more back putting the knife back in place, slowly getting up. Now he runs toward the end of the roof and jumps across the street landing safely on the other building on the other side.

Kalane walked alone the sidewalk in the rain, thinking. She rubbed her jade pendant hanging around her neck, then shifted into a leopard. She raced through the streets, pausing occasionally to look at the sky. When she felt she was done, she shifted back and sat on the curb. She realized she was far away from the center of the town. She shrugged. All the better for someone like her. Her red hair was drenched and it hung limply over her shoulder.

Takusu took a last leap of faith as he dived down from the bulding, grabbing some iron bars sliding carefully down to the ground. He turned into a wolf.


He flicked his ears a little starting running through allies. Suddenly he jumped out on the streets, landing on the back of a truck, now standing on it. Later on he jumped off. Thanks for the lift. He muttered.

Kalane stood, and stretched, her face morphed into a leoperds for a moment. She shook her head and it returned to normal. Just remember all you are is a dumb animal. The voice of her father rang in her ears. Punching the wall of the building next to her angrily, she walked on, away from the city. The rain grew harder, and she hunched her shoulders to keep it from dripping inside her shirt. Her hand throbbed, but she shrugged it away. Pain brings clarity, she thought, and I sure need it right now.

Takusu turned back to human form, but he's ears were still there as always though... He pulled the hood of his sweater up, and sprinted the building wall as far as he could before he started climbing. As he got up to the roof, he walked on blowing in his hands a little. Then shoving them into his pockets. He felt the warmth hold in his hand a while until he got soaked and the clothes started itching on his body. He started running towards the outsides of town, jumping from roof to roof. Soon he reached the forest. He went down and found a big tree with a huge space inside it. He went into the nicely carved hole and looked around. Someone must have been here... He muttered seeing old fireplaces and some old leather people were lying on. He quickly took off his most soaked clothing, then he turned into a wolf and he lay down to try to rest a little, because of his lack of sleep.

Kalane walked into the forest and sighed in relief. All she was wearing was a dress, thanks to her father. She grabbed some of the fabric and rung it out, then put her hair up in a messy ponytail. Gee, thanks dad, she muttered, still getting soaked be the rain. She walked through the forest, her green eyes hardly blinking. She stopped under a fairly large tree and sat down. If you hate me so much then why dont you leave? her fathers taunting foice came back to her. Well dad, she thought wryly, I left. You happy? You know I will find you... She screamed and grabbed her head. Leave me alone she sobbed, her face in her palms, tears mingling with the rain.

Takusu awoke to the scream, as he stalked out of the tree stopping in the entrance. He saw a girl sitting in the rain. Be careful not to freeze to death. And please don't panic. Takusu said in human language.

Kalane looked up and saw a wolf. "Did you just speak to me?' she said hoarsly. She stood and looked at the wolf. All at once she could feel herself tranforming. Dont let it take you she though, gritting her teeth. She clenched and unclenched her fists. Let it take you dumb animal. She closed her eyes. No, she muttered under her breath.

Yes I just did. Don't worry. I'm not... Fully a wolf... He said and examined the girl. Come in here. I guess it's a little more... Water proof. He said taking a few steps back.

Kalane narrowed her cat like eyes. "How do I know I can trust you." But the tree looked so inviting. She took a step foreward than shook her head. You just met this random "wolf". You cant trust him... She hesitated, pulled between survival and instinct. She gave a low cat-like growl, then slinked into the tree.

You can't... Can you? No don't care about me. Nobody wants to talk to the freak with the wolf ears... I'm sorry, it's not often I talk to people might understand... Takusu said and took his wet clothes up with his nose, throwing them over a branch. Then he turned back to the girl. I am Takusu... He nodded, as some shadows started covering his body and he turned back to human form. His clothing also revealed and people could clearly see, they matched his fur as a wolf. His wolf ears stuck up. And he quickly grabbed for the hood on his sweater, but it was hanging on the branch, so he just sighed a little.

"Ahh..." was all Kalane managed to say as he tranformed into a human, with wolf ears. "I'm Kalane. Pronounced Kah-LAH-Neh." Her eyes flicked around the room. Her hair was already starting to dry, and it looked even more red than before. "Your a... shifter?" she said weakly. She sat down on the floor, now thinking it would be easier to trust this shifter. Although she wouldn't show him what she was though...

I guess I am... Takusu said cold as he went over to the entrance looking out. What were you doing out there? Takusu asked, surprised over how far from the city they were. Sorry if it is... A too personal question. He muttered, not turning to the girl.

Kalane closed her eyes. " I guess you could call it... running away? I know it seems childish, but..." She opened her eyes. She slipped the jade necklace over her head and stared at it, tears pricking the corners of her eyes. Slowly she ran her fingers along it, along the ridges of the leopard engraved in it. She felt a pnag in her hand and remembered what she did to it. She stopped and returned the necklace to her neck. "I could ask you the same question."

Surviving. Takusu pointed. I've walked alone as soon as I understood what was going on... Nobody have been wanting to talk to me. "The weirdo with the canine ears." He muttered. And sighed. I can't get a job, not a place to live... So I wanted to go to the forest... He turned back walking over to his clothes, touching them to check if they were wet. Are you cold? He asked politely as he looked back at the girl.

"Yeah, sort of." The understatment of the year, she thought wryly. "But I will survive." She stood. "I guess I should tell you something..." Internally she was screaming at herself not to. "Ah, well I'm a shifter too." She looked down at the ground, waiting for his reaction. He will hate you now... Be quiet she growled to the voice inside her head.

Takusu went over to one of the FirePlaces. It's nice to see another of my kind. But luckily, you don't walk around with big floppy ears all day. He laughed a little at. Then he sat down, and put up some sticks to a little pyramid. Then he got the Flint that was laying to the side, he pulled his knife and hit the flint with the side if the blade. Later on the twigs caught fire. And takusu blew on the flames to make them lit more. Ah, here we are. He said. holding his hands over the flames a little.

Kalane shyed away from the fire. "Yeah, well I guess thats true." She she curled up and hugged her knees. Her hair reflected the fire, making it look more red than ever. And now that it was dry it curled into soft little waves. "I will be going once the rain stops." She looked outside, and suddenly felt very uncomfortable.

Takusu nodded. I wish you luck. He said an sighed a little. Do whatever you please. But don't go kill yourself like my mother did... He said cold. As he got up and got his sweater, putting it on. He put his hand in his left pocket, pulling out something. Have this! He said and threw a Blue Ruby over at the girls feet. Sell it, or do anything you want with it... He said while disappearing through the entrance.

She looked down at the Ruby by her feet. Dont kill yourself... She sighed. If only he knew. She stood and stretched. Holding the Ruby in her hands, she quietly placed it beside the fireplace. The glowing embers reflected off the precious jem. "I cant take this" she whispered."Its not mine to sell." She slowly walked out into the rain, which had become but a drizzle. Stalking through the woods, she shifted into a leopard form and plunged into the shadows, her green eyes glowing...

Takusu who already was on his way back to the city, decided to climb up one of the trees. As soon as he got high up, he found a thick branch. He stood on it, and gazed around the place. Better than the city... He murmured as he gazed upon the sky. Noticing the rain was stopping to fall. He jumped back down, landing soft at the ground. He walked back towards the lightfilled city.

I can't go back. I can't go back, she repeated to herself over and over. She had long ago changed back into her human form, and she had dirt streaked all over her face. Remember, I will find you She squeezed her eyes shut. Get out of my head, she growled. As she walked, she opened a hidden clasp behind her necklace and took out a small dagger, just big enough to draw blood. She played around with it for a while then put it back. Don't kill yourself... As she reached the end of the forest she stopped, unable to move forward.

Kalane stepped out of the forest, walked a few meters, then hesitated. She ran the rest of the way, terror clawing at her throat. You can't go back! a voice inside her screamed. She ignored it, and leapt up on a fence, her arms out to balance her. She walked along the fence for awhile, then sat down, her feet hanging over the edge. She once again took out he dagger, and turned it over and over in her hands. She looked up as she saw a figure turn onto the street. Terror almost choked her, and she leapt her feet. Oh no, she whispered. Terror in her eyes, she fled towards the forest. The man caught sight of her and yelled her name. No no no no...
